The 'Tornado' named Merab Dvalishvili (l.) takes a swing at Richard Maddox.

Merab Dvalishvili (Kayo BC) brings no grace to the ring, only pain.

The bulldog from the Republic of Georgia never let Richard Maddox (Unattached) breathe at Glen Cove High School Wednesday night when the Daily News Golden Gloves debuted the 141-pound novice class on Long Island. Dvalishvili, affectionately called Tornado by Kayo BC, never stopped whirling. At one point, Maddox actually ran away, making it clear he?d had enough.

An overjoyed Dvalishvili had no use for stairs after his victory, leaping from the canvas to the gym floor in search of his friends. The collective effort earned him the Empire City Casino Punch of the Night. ?Next time I?ll be even better,? Dvalishvili said through a translator. ?I can punch 100 times in a round, no problem. I have no fear of being tired.?

Paul Anthony (Gleason?s Gym) looked powerful, quick and impressive in his 5-0 win over Mauricio Serrano (Ardon Sweet Science). Even on the rare occasions when Anthony got himself into trouble, smooth footwork and excellent technique pulled him out of them. The striking performance helped Anthony earn the P.C. Richard and Son Boxer of the night honors.

?Before every fight I?m a little nervous,? Anthony said. ?But once I step into the ring, all of that is gone and I?m just ready to fight.?

In a rare matchup between southpaws, Andrea Crepaldi (Gleason?s Gym) toyed with Mark Brown (Darko BC) for an easy 5-0 win. The Sicilian was patient, waiting for his opponent to extend, then tossing right hands with pinpoint accuracy. After the bout, Crepaldi received an embrace from WBA Welterweight Champion Paulie Malignaggi of Brooklyn.

Michael Damiani (Westbury BC) and his fan club went home happy after the whiz from West Islip snatched a victory from Stephen Holden (NYAC). Damiani controlled Round 1 by tagging an off-balance Holden with several flurries. Holden rebounded in Round 2 with better footwork and one-two combinations. Though both fighters went on the offensive in the third, Damiani took the decision.

Bishop Ford High School brings the Gloves back to Kings County on Friday to finish out the first round for the 141-pound novices.
